        • Tank History

The first tank was made by the British around August-September in 1915. They were made for going across trenches and running over barbed wire. It was made to make a clear path for the troops to cross no man's land. It was first used in September of 1916. They were pretty successful but the armor was weak. To stop the tanks from crossing trenches the enemy made their trenches wider and deeper. So the British put wheels on the back of the tank so it wouldn't get stuck.
